Skröggur

In this tutorial we'll be tying an purebred Icelandic pattern by Icelands one of the best, if not the best salmon fly designers mr. Kristján Gíslason. This famous simple pattern is called Skröggur and it was designed in 1972 so it's been around for about 5 decades. Skröggur is without a doubt a fly that caught many many big salmons in Icelandic rivers and has become a classic Icelandic salmon pattern long ago. Nobody in Iceland designed as many flies as Kristján did and we'll be aiming on it to tie and record the vast majority of his collection here on the channel. Skröggur is relatively simple pattern that works great for salmon but also for trout and even sea trout. Often it's the most simple flies that catch the most. I'd suggest to have this fly in the sizes 10-16 for the Icelandic rivers.

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
