Hare’s Lug and Plover

Spider pattern - North Country soft hackle

Hook - Light wire hook - here Partridge SUD2 size 12
Thread - Yellow silk - here YLI
Body - hare's lug - this is the fur from between the ears on a hare's mask
Rib - optional - gold wire or tinsel
Tag - optional - gold wire or tinsel
Hackle/Legs - overcovert from Golden Plover. These feathers are hard to get. Not really much in the way of great subs with "yellow tips" but this basic pattern with another game hackle will be an effective fly.

I did not use wax. That is a personal preference. I have seen this pattern where "cobbler's wax" is used to darken the silk color. That is again up to you.

Enjoy and Fish on!

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
