Steve Labrecque Streamers
Steve grew up along the lakes and rivers of Maine, in the Sebago Lake area of the state. He was born into angling and destined to become a great fisherman. Both his father and grandfather had fishing camps on the lake, and Steve learned the ropes from, or rather lines, from his mentors. For Steve, fishing is life and it flows deep. His 35 plus years of fishing have provided clear insight into what it takes to catch the state's famous landlocked salmon and vibrantly painted brook trout. His observations have spawned numerous streamer patterns, some based on the patterns of his major influences and other dreamed up by Steve himself. Looking at Steve's flies, you can see glimpses of the regions storied pioneers such as Carrie Stevens, Bob BiBeau and Authur Libby. Other major influences include Mike Martinek Jr. and Lew Oatman, providing Steve a base to build upon and taylor the patterns to Sebago requirements.
Steve has the privilege of raising his own flock of chickens, and several of his hackles originate from his Silver Laced Wyandotte hen, Lacey. Steve found one such set of wing hackles for a streamer after a raccoon made a midnight visit to the hen house. It raised some hell in the coop and the feathers flew literally. When things settled, the hackles for the Raccoon Moon streamer made their way to the hook.
While Steve ties and christens streamers after people important in his life, one fly in particular has been created in response to something that touches all of our lives. The Cure was tied in support of all those, families and patients, dealing with cancer. Red and white, Daredevil colours, have always been a productive colour combination, and what better way to heal the soul than to go fishing. Steve's life has been heavily impacted by cancer with both his mother and father as well as many friends. We all hope to continue to see advancements made in the search for a cure to cancer. With new discoveries in treatment and prevention being revealed, it brings us hope. We will be putting several of the project streamers on Auction later in the year in support of cancer research. We will post details in the coming months.
Thanks Steve for sharing you collection.

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.
Long story longer
The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
