GFF Summit: Last practicalities

The forums are very quiet

The Global FlyFisher forum has existed for almost as long as the site, and the oldest posts are more than 20 years old. Forums aren't what they used to be. Social media has taken over a lot of their roles, and the GFF forum is very quiet ... to put it mildly.
We keep everything online for the sake of history, and preserve the posts for as long as possible, but as you will see, quite a few of them aren't in a good shape, but rely on old images hosted elsewhere, which are no longer available, odd codes from old systems and much more, which can't be shown in a decent way.
But the posts are here, and you can - if you insist - start new threads and reply to old ones. But don't stay awake waiting for replies, because they are unfortunately few and far apart.

GFF friends and Summit participants,

A week from now we'll be standing knee deep in Danish sea trout with screaming reels and bent rods, slime on the fingers and scales between the teeth. It's gonna be a hoot!

A last few remarks before you set out on the journey.

There will most likely be people fishing already from Thursday, and from Friday for sure. We have access to the closed area Wedellsborg Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and those who want to fish Friday can call me or Ripley on the day to meet up. All other plans you must make amongst yourselves.

You will also have to arrange driving and transportation amongst yourselves. There are plenty cars with room, and a post in the GFF Summit forum will most likely get you a lift. We will try to keep the number of cars driving into Wedellsborg to a minimum, so please pool as much as you can. If you have space, let the good Summit folks know by posting your plans in the forum.

There is a designated area in Wedellborg where we park, conveniently close to the water and with easy access – in the forrest by the ferry dock as usual for those who have been before. Please park here unless something else is agreed with Ripley or myself. And make sure that ALL cars have an official note in the front window. This note can be downloaded and printed from http://globalflyfisher.com/about/summit2008/summit08.pdf

Here's a Google Map with both Wedellsborg and the Hostel plotted in:
http://kortlink.dk/5qvn
You can get Google to create detailed driving instructions for you by right clicking any point and selecting from the menu. There's also a line showing you the drive from the entry to the parking.

The Hostel is located at Kragsbjergvej 121, 5320 Odense, and the Wedellsborg entry is at the corner of Tybrindvej and Wedellsborgvej. The drive between them is about 45 minutes.

Other practicalities
Linen
You will need to bring bed linen and a pillow case. The Hostel provides duvets/blankets and does NOT allow sleeping bags! You also need to bring towels yourself.

Meals
We will be catered to Friday night with a simple meal – wine, beer and sodas available for purchase in the reception. On Saturday we will have a full dinner with wine and coffee. There will be full breakfast Saturday and Sunday and lunch packs with juice ready to pick up both days. There is no dinner planned on Sunday.

Weather

The weather forecast seems OK. We will have a strong eastern wind on Friday, which is not bad at all for the location, and we will most likely have stable weather during the weekend.

I can be reached on +45 20 66 67 01 and Ripley is on +45 30 22 16 79
If anybody wants to share their cell phone number, please forward it to me and I will compile and distribute a list.

See you all there!

Martin

Since you got this far …

A money box
The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
