GFF Newsletter July 2026 - Brazil Adventure - English Chalkstreams - One Ribbon Nymph - Tube flies and more

Global FlyFisher Newsletter Jul 1. 2026

So it’s summer in the northern hemisphere – and a hot one too, particularly in Europe where temperatures are soaring beyond anything ever registered this time of year.

This usually isn’t good news for anglers, because heat and bright sun often puts the fish down and make them hard to catch.

In my own part of the world, that usually means fishing early and late – and even during the night.
So what’s more suitable than an article on flies for night fishing? You will find it in the list below, where there’s also a trip report from Brazil, a great guide to English chalk streams as well as a couple of really simple flies: a trophy winning dry fly tied with CDC and nothing else and an emerger tied using two materials.

Apart from that there’s the usual assorted goods: lots of new videos, a couple of blog posts and of course the huge, humongous, gigantic archive of more than 30 years worth of fly fishing and fly tying publishing.
Even I myself am often surprised over what I can find on the site.
So feel free to dive in

Northerners: Enjoy the summer.
Southerners: Don’t worry, summer will return to you too!

Regards Martin

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
