GFF Newsletter, January 2026 - Classic Steelhead Flies, Bead Tube Pupae, Shamelessly simple

Global FlyFisher Newsletter Jan 25. 2026

It’s been a while since the latest newsletter, which went out back in November, so it’s probably suitable to wish all readers a Happy New Year.

These past days I’ve had some time off from paid work, and a bit of the gained free time has been spent on GFF content. That will be felt in the publishing frequency the coming weeks. There’s a lot of great content in the pipeline!

But there has also bee plenty good things published since November, and below you see some of it.

Renown Norwegian fly tyer Runar Warhuus has agreed to let me publish some of the articles he has done for the Norwegian magazine Alt om Fiske (Everything About Fishing). The first one about the Icelandic fly Zelda is online, and more will follow.

Our own Bob Petti has also been busy, and his new article on classic steelhead flies has found its way to the front page.

And as always, UK angler, tyer and photographer Nick Thomas has contributed more of his innovative patterns, and has been a steady and frequent contributor to the site for a couple of years now.

You will also find a couple of new blog posts and of course a ton of new videos.

Enjoy

Regards

Martin

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
