Friends, rods and sausages

Today was the day of the annual and traditional get-together arranged by the Copenhagen Fly Casting Club. Enjoyable as always.

Every year the last many years, CFCC, the Copenhagen Fly Casting Club, has been arranging and hosting a small outdoors get-together in a local park with ample room to try fly rods and hang around and talk to old and new friends.

It's not a colossal event, maybe 50-60 people at the most, but very enjoyable and a great chance to meet up with fly anglers from the area and try some rods and maybe buy a few things. A few local shops and dealers will typically bring demo rods, and if you're on the lookout for something new, there's enough to try. Echo, Sage, Hardy, Norsker and many more rod brands were on display, and most wre rigged with reels and lines and a small piece of yarn, ready to be brought out on the large lawn an tried.

If you weren't casting, you could chat or enjoy a beer or a soda and a sausage or two, supplied for free as a courtesy of CFCC, and adding to the picnic-like ambiance. The weather was fine again this year, only marred by a single shower towards the end, and people were quite obviously having a great time. A couple of the dealers had supplied prizes and one could be won in a lottery - where yours truly were appointed to be Lady Luck - while others could be had by winning a small casting competition arranged by Lasse Karlsson, the Danish casting champ and instructor, also involved in the company BalticFlyFisher with his wife, Silja Longhurst.

Altogether a great little event.

And PS: I got my hands on some of the new Danish FutureFly hooks, and will tie on them as soon as I get the time. Thanks Kasper and Steen - and Peter from FutureFly for remembering me!

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
