Ireland bound

Well, it's a dirty job, you know, but some one has to do all that traveling.

Wednesday morning I will be picked up at 7 AM and drive to the Copenhagen airport where I will leave for Ireland together with three friends. Once in Dublin the four of us will pick up a car and drive the 3-or-so hours it takes to get to Balina near Loch Conn in the west part of the island.

Here we will spend four days fishing on Loch Carrowmore (for salmon - yes, in the lake!) and possibly on Loch Conn (for browns - yes, it's mayfly time!).

We're talking traditional Irish fishing with long, light rods from boat using large, bushy flies. I've tried this kind of fishing a couple of times before and it's different, but not impossible to learn. Long leaders, teams of two or three flies and barely any casting as such. I'm looking forward to this!

You can of course expect something on the subject here on GFF when I return, and should anybody have a killer piece of advice on Irish fishing before I leave, just fire away.

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
