If you want to attach your name to a 'new' combination of materials and/or techniques - fill yer boots.
Hans Weilenmen, and others, have built a reputation for contributing and sharing, not one that brings to mind an attitude of self aggrandisement.
When I sit down to the vise I'm calling up 30+ years of experience and exposure to a myriad of fly tiers. Though I recognize all that influence, it doesn't stop me from feeling I've created something unique. Some people have even referred to my creations as 'my' flies. 'Dave' is such a common name, even I couldn't say it's mine.

Hey Joel,

You are right. Actually, I usually do paint eyes on this series of bucktails. Even the occasional Carrie Steven's band in orange occasionally. Thanks for the input. I appreciate it.

Hey Kelly,

This series of patterns would be great for large and smallmouth basses. Crappie to in small sizes (#10). It is an easy series to tye, and they are pretty tough if you take the time to coat the mylar with superglue. They would also be good for wipers,if you have those near you.

Wonderful! Paradise for the fly fisherman and some of the most beautiful trout you'll ever see. Brown trout really are the King of fish. If ever I visit Montana this is where I'd want fish, it is truly fishing nirvarna.

Alan, very nice work. I have one suggestion. Put eyes on all your flies. Statistics show that flies with painted eyes catch more fish than J.C. or no eyes. I know that takes more time in production, but the flies would be much more effective, which will enhance your reputation even more.

Fishing with friends, each with 50 yrs + fly fishing experience, we had an opportunity to fish this inovative fly on the Green River, Utah. I can tell you that the strike ratio to similar flys was 8 to 1 in favor of Duck's extended body fly. It would be great if these flys were available commercially for those of us who love to fish but have limited time for fly tying or the ability to do so. Thank you Mr. Duckworth for a great fishing experience.

Martin's idea is good. I cut a very slim piece of plastic from a sandwich baggie and use that as a shellback. Takes markers well. Seems in the spirit of the sparse material selection the original Czech and Polish fishermen had at their disposal. HAHAHA
