Steve, every once in blue moon someone designs a winner; this is one for the history books and has led me to designing 'profile', flies not too dissimilar to yours and equally successful. Congratulations.

Very beautiful, although it's interesting how they could change aircraft in flyght!

Good article. I would like to express my opinion because I am from Czech Republic and currently I live in Ireland so I believe that I know "both sides".
I agree with opinion that Czech Nymphing is not graceful fly fishing. Personally I love dry fly fishing and I am happy I can use dry flies almost whole season in Ireland. During two years I used Czech nymph only several times mainly for perch fishing in high water. (I also improved my casting in this two years more than in ten years of fly fishing in Czech rep)
On the other hand this "technique" was invented in country where fish do not raise so easy as in England, Scotland or Ireland. In Czech Rep. there are lot of trout rivers where fish feed whole year close to bottom and is necessary to get flies deep to catch something.
Czech Nymphing is very effective and could be abused (like almost everything) so I agree with ban of it on some rivers but still from my point of view it is more sport method than worm fishing or dapping the natural mayfly (that is considered as sport method in Ireland).
This technique allows fishing when other ones does not work like high water so it worth to try and learn ( and have several Bobeshs in fly box)

Martin, have you already tried Sporfish.co.uk? They have BugBond for a reasonable price on stock.

Pete,

How could anyone get sick and tired of your nice flies? Please continue! I'm keeping and eye out, and I think we might have another article coming up with variatons over the Welded Phly!

Happy New Year to you too, Martin. GFF is really good website and it's always very interesting to read new articles or refresh the old stuff. It would be great to here more podcasts, hope you'll have some energy for it :) Tight lines!

Rasmus,

I was the one who did the podcasts, and even though they were a lot of fun to do, it was also a lot of work. I have considered taking it up again once the season starts, but my energy levels aren't quite what they used to be, so no promises...

Martin

John,

I have long been looking for some of these new resins, but unfortunately they are not easy to come by here in Denmark, and very expensive when you have to order them from abroad. I haven't given up, though, and you can hopefully expect something on Bug Bond, Tuffleeye, Clear Cure Goo and maybe other types of UV hardening resins in the coming months.

Martin

Happy New Year
Will there be made some new podcasts? The ones already made are very good, but an update would be nice.
:-) Rasmus

Happy New Year Martin. Have you folks given any thought on doing an article on the new blue light UV resins like Bug Bond or Tuffleye? I know you have some of Davie McPhail's videos posted showing him using it.

Fishing for False Albacore with Captian Scott is a complete thrill. This is extreme fly fishing and he has it perfected. We had a great couple of days with him catching all the Albies and Tuna I could handle. I can vouch for his expertise.

i need help....does it matter what kind of backing is ussed?? i have a ross reel fly rise 1 and i was wondering if that backing would work?

More often than knot, after tying I'll continue to ponder the resultz and refine the process...
This is the latest in the "evolution"... Capricious Crustacean 5.0 ?!
anyway...
Basically the same except...
there's some fox fore and aft, smaller nipperz, more pronounced swimmerz, four [4] legz each side, and a more subtle colour applied to the Arabian sand infused Bug-Bond acrylic on the carapace back...
This sort'a pheels a bit like a phinal edition... but I know better...

you can almost distinguish the dumb bell that encourages proper orientation...

and beside all that, I'm likin' the centipede legz...

Pawel,

I have several DVD's in my collection, which I purchased for 20-25 US$ and which are way better than this.

Green Tide from NZ: 25 US$ plus postage
Revolution from the UK: 23 US$ plus postage
Essential Skills cost US$ 25.- per volume
Czech Nymph from Sweden: 25 US$
Nervous water from the US: 25 US$ plus postage

OK, none of these are 20 US$, but all of them--not least the last three--give so much more for the money. The last one contains four full features and tonnes of short films and extra material, which is all better than what is found on Drake's DVD.

And 20 US$ to mail a DVD with no cover or booklet!? If I wanted to return it to the US, I could stuff it in an envelope and stick less than 2 dollars in stamps on it to pay for its return.

I'm sorry no say so, but whatever you think, I expected more and was still disappointed.

Ok, but tell me which productions are cheaper than 20 $, and shop don't add shipping, especially when it is oversea shipping. I will buy in this shop.

I can agree with you in one : poor packing, there should be normal DVD case with printed label.
Can't tell about movie because I don't watched it.

Pawel,

Yes, this is a review!

This is my subjective and personal impression of a product that I bought and paid for and actually looked forward to. But I was disappointed, and the most significant issues were exactly as I said:
- poor packaging
- sub par technical quality
- high end user price (all included to me as an ordinary buyer)

The content was not good enough to overshadow these facts.

So that was really the review!

Martin, is it really review ? What i know from this "review" : price too high, they count you for shipping, there is no cover, the footage is not innovative .... Half review is about price ...

'Went to the Bear's Den and Scott had Centipede Legs... [and did he look strange!]
'always seem to find stuff that I didn't know I needed or already had... [or does it find me?]
'Same basic idea... some different colours...
Now I need to find some patience to twitch these properly like a paranoid crustacean...
[it's NOT paranoia if they really ARE trying to get you!]

Captain Scott on a routine day!!!!

We love it, we love him!!!! May 2011, again and always!!

Since you got this far …

A money box
The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
