Asp is really a great fish on fly , has been my favorite target since moving to Hungary , but I find they are very weak fighters, I have not caught any monsters, but a 1.5kg Asp does not give much of a pull even on a 4wt.
has any one else experienced this ?

If you come to America I'll take you Shad fishing. They are our version of the Asp. Short time window in the Spring, fight hard, exciting to catch. Except for the mouth design, they are similar in construction. Is this the fish that killed Cleopatra?

Last week we were out for sea trout on the coast for a bit. No luck, but the coastal scenary was quite nice.

Perletand Polystickle, the recipe:
Hook: Hayabusa Size 6 (long shank), or VMC Special Mer 9146 NI, or Gamakatsu LS-50113F, sizes 10 to 2 (sizes as you like)
Yarn: Black 6/0
Tail: synthetic bass, or for more attraction in stillwater black marabou
Body: here perls in pearl and one in red as the hitpoint
Body Hackle: non
Wing: synthetic bass
Head: black yarn 6/0 or a black conehead
Front hackle: orange or red hot.
After tying the tail I cut the yarn and fix the first perl with a little bit epoxy.
When using marabou instead of the synthetic bass, you have to tie the tail and lay the marabou later as a wing to the head. Or use marabou only for tail and cut the synthetic bass below.
You can change the colours of the perls as you like, maybe a brown shining polystickle as natural? Or some blue perls with one red perl and a white bass as a little herring?
My perls are 4 mm diameter and have a 2 mm boring. When buying some perls you should have some hooks in your pocket 😉
Before using a conehead for this fly try out its weight. The perls bring their own weighting.

Top notch photo quality. Put in the fly tackle needed for a day at the boat in the front of the picture and you have a high score. Until then you get 5.

Despite a good photo technicality, I don't think this is a way to hold any living fish (between your legs and with a hard grip around the torsoe). 2.
Nice colors. Put some action in form of an angler into the photo and you have a topscore. Untill then enjoy your 4.
Since these are dead fish I don't mind you placing them on the sun warmed sand. You get 5 for going down there and getting close.
Well dude, I'm not fond of the concecpt of placing any fish on a sun-warmed piece of wood. 2.

Nice trick, which I suspect arised when you were tying the smaller sizes? I vert rarely fish this fly, but I enjoy tying it, and always have 1 or 2 in the box. For size 12 and smaller, I've always used Calf Body Hair, which is much finer than tail, but still produces more bulk than goose.

Since Kasper came things have changes slightly. You don't need a passport to get a Licence but you will need to purchase a temporary ten day Tuscany licence for €11and then will need to purchase a TWT Club membership for €20 which lasts the whole year and a day ticket which costs €10/day. Closed on Wednesdays.For now it isn't necessary to book but this may be the case in 2007.
NB! The TWT will close from 31/12/2006 until 30/05/2007.

I'm in the Navy and will be going there soon. Did you have to have a passport to get a fishing
license and do they have one, two and three day permits? I can't wait to fish there, I am so glad they enjoy fly fishing like we do.
This is the best DVD on fly fishing ever. I fish all the time most of the places these guys fished so it wasn't sure about a DVD on my place, but these guys kept my adrenaline pumping right from the start. I happened to meet them at a show in Washington and they are great people as well as film makers. Way to go Trout Bums!
