I envy the availability of

I envy the availability of those evening fisheries that you have. :) We certainly don't have those, at least not around the Greater Vancouver area. I've caught thick-lipped mullet in Asia before but never sight flyfished for them like what you do in DK. One day... Last year's short trip to King River with Martin and others was really special for me and I hope to be able to do that again possibly next spring. In the meantime, I just have to put up with these 45cm rainbows that love to gulp down a size 4 stonefly. 😄

The pictures are lovely and I especially liked the last with the beautiful spots from the brookies. The first picture is a nice angle...

Steve and I are out again tomorrow evening (Friday). We will keep our shirts on this time and hope for some prime silver and maybe some mullet. We know where they are...We know they are there...It's just a matter of placing that darn fly in the right place...

It's so funny but taking trips up the hwy 395 along the Eastern Sierra to attend the Burning Man festival is what got me back into flyfishing! Fun fly, great name.

Too bad Vanuz, you should have gone to Trygg about 6 weeks earlier. ;) If I remember correctly, Nina and I were there on May 12th last year and the big pikes were boiling on the surface everywhere. This time of the year it's pretty slow (that's probably why the day card is so cheap 😄 ).

where can we buy your mullet flies in England or Denmark by mail order.

This is a great idea

This is a great idea and good infomation. The main problem is finding the motor that is small enough and inexpensive. In the USA I can't find any for less than $20-25. Any suggestions?? Any Sources?? Thanks, In His Love, Rev. Clyde

Back in the 50's

Back in the '50's we raised chickens in Mississippi. Fresh eggs are always good. The way we killed them was simply grab them by the head, wring the neck --until the head came off. They flopped around and bled a lot, but it was quick and efficient. No one in our family then was concerned about saving the feathers. I remember Mother "burning" the pen feathers and hairs off the skin before it was cooked. In those days, a chicken was only killed for special occassions -- like the preacher come home for dinner --{we always liked those days}. I just may get back into raising chickens!!

HI KASPER love eye

HI KASPER love eyes on my shrimp flies it just makes them more realistic,i melt 25pound nylon and burn ends with my lighter,they cool at once and are ready for use in seconds, but always crimp the stalks between a pair of pliers before tyinging in to make them very secure.

I have been doing some research over the past few days and I think the shooting head is definitely the best option, not to mention they are easier to cast with! I have had contact with a few norwegians too and they all recommend the shooting heads. The fact that you can simply change the head to suite the conditions is also a huge bonus 😄

HI,i also have used the improved clinch knot for half a century, very seldom letting me down like C W(smallie)BOTTOM. I like to wrap at least 6 times round main line pass back through loop next to the eye then back through the loop above.wet this and pull on main line only gently to tighten,then when in place only then pull on the tag end firmly.REPEAT main line pull then tag end pull and dont trim off too close.I also always use this knot when worming and spinning for salmon and never and never encountered many problems.GOOD LUCK from BILL.

I had some discussion with my father over this fish. But if you say this is a 100% seatrout, i'll gladly believe that. I was confused by the enormous belly of this beatiful fish. But again Martin, well done. I'll have to make some more hours on the coast for such a fish of a lifetime. Nice to see how they really look, when you do not lose them :-) Hope to see more of those fish!!

I´ve checked Trygg last week, the "soup" was rather muddy and full of grass of any kind. Few small piked saw the shore, but otherwise it was a dismal. No giant perch around, no trouts...
The place was nearly empty, just a bunch of idiots running around and taking 30cm pikes home spoilt the atmosphere :evil:

I hardly drove home ´cos my eyes got swollen and grew to the size of tabletennis balls ( :shock: ) as I suffer from hay-fever :oops:

I bought #9-10 14' Vision 3Zone DH for practising how to cast double hands,but I made quite a big mistake (I think like all beginers) when I bought Spey line..I thauht that it will be quite easy to cast it,but I was wrong 😄 I bought Lee Wulff Triangle Taper Spey #9 I think.
Its head is wery long,so when I tried it I was wery sad :x It was imposible to cast it,becouse my casting skills was wery limited..
Some time ago EFFA flycasting instructor Reinis Rutkis (from Latvia) in his casting presentation told us about the main mistakes in double hands.He recommended to buy shooting head and runing line system and suggested us to use this: http://www.scierra.com/pwf1.htm
It is much lighter to cast rod with shooting head system than spey line and I experienced that 😉 So my Triangle Taper line will be in use when my skills will be better :) Also it is easier to learn casting with floating lines :idea:

As a holiday Gozo was great, but for fishing it was dismal! I tried flyfishing from the rocks a couple of times (we were only there a week, and it was a holiday with Nan and her sister and brother-in-law). The water was amazingly clear, and I could see small fish, but they didn't want to bite!

I tried some mullet with a fly, no joy there either. I think maybe the fishing close to shore might be better in the summer and autumn, when the water has warmed up. While we were there in early May it was freezing! There is a good chance we will go back on our own later in the year (September?) as I have a friend who has recently moved out there to work, and we can go and stay with him. So there may be more news later on...

Never thought about using the flash in bright light

Very interesting,never thought about using the flash in bright light conditions before,sometimes my pictures turned out ok but maybe more by luck than anything else.I will try this new found method, too me anyway, and i bet to others as well. And will let you know how i get on.You have very informatives sites and a great help to beginners like me and others.Hope its ok to pass your GFF site on to my friends.
