Nice sharp colors w/ a matching background.
Be careful with the horisont (it's supposed to be well, horisontal)
The line sticking out of the mouth suggests a deep swallowed fly.
You get a 3, kid!

This sounds great. Thanks for a really interesting article.
You guys are so lucky to have such a fish. In a book of freshwater fishes I found the fish listed as 'Rapfen' (latin name Aspius aspius) it looks like a flyfisher's dream-fish. Hey! and no teeth to bite you with either! I'd like to try pike, but those teeth scare me!
Thanks again.

Les
Hello everyone,
We are so lucky to have asps in our rivers too. Like Vilmos Varage writes in his article, it is an wonderful fish to catch.
Strikes are amazing, runs are breathtaking and it is a beautiful fish
Asps are caught here in Belgium and Holland in our rivers de Maas and De Waal and they are also caught in our canals.
What's the chance that this fish took a shrimp pattern?
Warren,
Roosters can be pretty aggressive and fierce, and some rather intimidating. But... it's just a fairly dumb, small animal (slthough some are bigger than you think), and you ought to be able to grab it. Get its wings collected by the "elbows" over the bird's back and grab the legs with the other hand and you should be in control. Alternatively a large landing net or a sack can be used to catch and calm the bird a bit.
Regarding the killing I would still use my proven whack!/chop! method. being two persons makes this much easier. Poisonous gas, CO2 from dry ice in a barrel may be an alternative in your case. But it's quite an arrangement to set up for one bird. The club and the axe is much easier - albeit also messier.
You may also consider getting a hand from someone more "brutal" than yourself.
Hope this helps...

Kasper, fantastic fly. I've never responded to anyone before, but here I felt I had to. This fly is so easy to tie. Mind you I had to go out and buy a new pair of reading glasses to see what I'm doing. Ha, Ha. Can't wait to get out on the water.

Very nice, Cándido!
This flies ara good also to tropical fishes as piau (Leporinus sp.), tilápias (Tilapia rendalli), Acarás (Geophagus sp.), Apaiaris (Astronotus Ocellaris).
The strike of piau is superb. Piau is a fish strong, ultra-fast and nice to fishing.
Good fishings to you! And lines up!

I really like all the adjustments on this tool. Hope you don't mind but I linked to your page on a local forum from Maine. You have a great picture on your site of a trout that looks to be swimming in air.

Good article folks. Can you tell me the easiest way to despatch a rooster you cannot catch (and is too aggressive...or maybe I am too chicken myself...) and you want the most humane way (short of shooting him!)
That is, no need to eat him. Just to despatch him...anywhere! Thanks
Blue background = Yes!
Buggy but not too buggy for a mayfly = Yes!

Hello Martin. I have yet to see a review done about this "shady book" You told me at the end of Oct. that you'd get to it. I've seen reviews on other media that have been out for less time. I'd like the public to get a reputable report about this
Does it come with a promise that it will tie better flies that will catch more fish, or promise it will break your bank account?
Anyway, it looks like a character from Robo-cop. "Stay out of trouble"!

Hi Ripley;
they promised me BOTH!!! 😉
A photo with the motiv in the center rarely scores well, but this one gets;
Scenery = Yes!
Action = Yes!
Depth = Yes!
Sharpness =Yes!
Total = 4
Reminds me of a 1980s ad from a swedish reel manufacturer. You get a 4 for bringing some action to our memories.
Nice scenery. Fishing in the city. The (casting) angler is in the golden spot. You get 4. Get closer/ zoom in at the angler and a 5 would've been possible.
Well composed, beautiful colors and an angler smiling after having caught a piece of crap... erhh, I meen carp. You get 4+.
Phototechnically this will max be a 3. However, having seen your other photo w/ puddle dog I can only imagine how you got the almost marabou-like body material for this "cottonball-fly". You get 4 but just for bringing live fly tying materials to the stream!
Uh-huh, a little spooky but at the same time also idylic.
Tough against the sun shot.
You get 3. The photo is a bit boring as it is. Had there been say a canoo with a couple of anglers in you'd easily gotten a 5. Cut off most of the pine tree in the front and bingo dude made it!
Awesome colors. Very sharp.
Dolphy looks down at the "heering" in his mouth and you can almost imagine him saying, "from now on I'll be a vegetarian!"
Dude, you get 6.
… I have a small favor to ask.
Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.
The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
