As a free-lance fly fishing journalist he has written articles for the "Fly Fishing Fly Tying Magazine”, the "Fliegenfischen" journal (Germany’s, Austria’s and Switzerland’s largest fly-fishing journal) and since 2007 he is also a contributor to the Global FlyFisher.

As a former college student to Australia and the United States, he fishes alpine waters throughout the world. His specialties however are the streams and rivers of southern Bavaria and Austria where he spends most of his free time.
His scientific curiosity motivates him to continuously test modern tackle materials and innovative designs in fly fishing.

“I am virtually field testing the whole year” laughs Tobias.
“I highly respect the traditional parts in our common passion, however no one today, in modern surgery for example, would even think about using the materials from two decades ago. Modern fly casting and fly tying is virtually the same and can surely still be further optimized in their performance with new material compounds.”
Together with his wife and his little daughter Nelli, Tobias lives in southern Germany near the city of Regensburg.

Tobias has written the following on GFF:

Carinthian Gold

Does one of the best spots for fishing for graylings with a colour “like gold”, good water conditions most of the spring, summer and autumn, still undiscovered by cormorants and yet unknown to the cosmopolitan fly fishing scene sound interesting?

Internet Flies

All of a sudden, the new season or a spontaneous fly fishing trip with your best buddy is imminent. At that stage, you may think about ordering flies through an online shop.
Selling flies through the Internet is a growing business. There is a vast number of private and commercial suppliers of flies and a large range of prices and qualities.

Since you got this far …

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
