Notes: The Blueback Trout is one of the new patterns included in Keith Fulshers revised and updated version of Thunder Creek Flies. The blueback trout are a small (6-9") species of char found in the Rangeley Lakes and considered to be one of the major prey items for the large brook trout and landlocked salmon of these waters. Their numbers have dwindled due to overfishing, but some populations still exist throughout the Northeast. Darren uses 2-3 coats of clear lacquer on the head before adding the eyes and then adds an additional coat to lock in the color. The eyes are made by dipping wooden dowels in paint. Allow lots of time for dying in between applications.
