Don't forget, One can add a "Hot Spot" on the Czech Nymph.. Usually just 2 -3 turns of Hot Orange, Flo. Chart; Hot Pink or Flo. Yellow Dubbing.. These are usually applied right in front of the Body- before the Thorax. But some are applied at the Mid point on the Shank. They can often get a Fish interested in the Nymph.. just a hint of Brightness...

Czech Nymphs Rock!!! I've been finding plenty of Locations here in California, where they are the Only way to get the Trout to bite..

Searched for "epoxy

Searched for "epoxy fly dryer" on google and found some good infomation last night on www.Reeltime.com discussion group. 1. Use "disco ball" motor. Some Electronic Repair companies may carry them. 2. Remove "Barbacue Roto Motor" from grill. 3. Remove "Sponge Drum Humidifier motor" and use it.
Go to www.scientificsonline.com for motors 3-4 rpm. They have small motors for $5 or so and a heavy duty 115v for $25 I think.
Also, check out www.hagensfish.com for "plug drying table" on pp. 156 and they have 4 rpm motors for $12.95.
Also check out www.jannsnetcraft.com for Rod building motors on pp. 62-63 of catalog.
A great comment from someone on reeltime discussion said he used his Rod making motor. Put in a fiberglass/graphite Rod -- put cork rings every 6" and attached his epoxy flies to the cork. He said he could put 2-3 doz. flies on one Rod. After turning for 2 hours -- he stands the "Rod/Flies" up to finish drying and puts in another Rod/cork and starts a new batch of epoxy flies.

When's the best time to fish

Sure. Springtime will be equally good on both islands. March and April are generally good months for sea trout. Bornholm fishing will usually slow down in May and not really get going before September and October again.

Mullet have been very abundant during the late summer and early autum, but unfortunately their numbers aren't as high as they used to be. We still see large schools, but just a few years ago they were a very common sight almost on all trips. The latest years have been a lot slower.

The fair alternates between Denmark and The Netherlands, so 2008 is Dutch while 2009 is Danish. The Dutch Fly Fair will be described here in due time: http://www.flyfair.nl/flyfair-english.html

When's the best time to fish

When's the best time to fish fyn? Can this be easily combined with the best period for fishing on Bornholm?

I've understood that the summer is optimal mullet (multe) time, but when do they start appearing in significant numbers along the danish coast?

As regards the fly fair, maybe that's something that can experienced in the future. Another thing to look forward to :)

Very similar to the one I use here in eastern Canada. Works very well with brook trout in rivers and brooks. I also tie them weighted.

Czech nymph books and DVDs

Harold, the mentioned book from Karel Krivanec is the only one that focuses on Czech nymphing (and is written in English). A lot of other information is on Karel's site www.czechnymphs.com and on the sites you metioned in your email. The only DVD available is DVD Essential Skills with Oliver Edwards Vol. 1 (Czech Nymphing / Upstream Nymphing and North Country Spiders ). This DVD is reviewed on globalflyfisher.com and the whole series is recommended!

The good news is that there will be two new Czech books shortly (both in English). The first one will appear already in December and will be available via www.czechnymph.com (detailed content of the book is still under secret...) and the other one should be published in the spring - this will be a fly catalogue of the top Czech flyfishing competitors!!! I hope this info helped.

Remember that there is no fly fair in Denmark. It's every second year in Denmark alternating with The Netherlands. This year it's in the lowlands.

And fishing on Bornholm in May where the Fair is, is not the best time of year for the rocky island. March and April are better choices - even February.

I pretty flexible as regards when I can travel, but obviously I want to experience the 'optimal' periods as opposed to throwing away my time, not that fish is ever a waste of time (god forgive me for thinking such a thought!).

Obviously cheaper the better, but I'm not going to be so tight that my fishing is going to be affected 😉

If there is no fly fair this year, I can basically come over whenever. I've been discussing the trip with a few friends, but they seem a bit poor and would like to wait till nearer the time. So I'm a bit sceptical as to whether they'd come at all. We'll see.

When's the best time to fish where you are? Also on Bornholm? Though with that said, I may have to fly so it'd only be a trip to your fine self.

Sorry for my late responds, but a bad flu brought me down.

Normally I fish the fly wet, directly under the surface, because of no weight.
But one time, during my summer holidays in Denmark 07 in the very early morning, I saw rainbows cruising around just under the surface and try to fish it dry – and it worked properly.
But I think this was a quit an unusual behaviour.
When fishing the fly wet, I retrieve it in small strips and from time to time I diversify the speed from low to medium low.
Until now I’ve got very low experience with fishing the fly in rivers and lakes, so perhaps it’s up to you to help with some practise and please let me know of your results.

My (late) grandfather had a friend who chewed on his (I am assuming wet) flies before using them. He swore by it, and he caught a lot of fish.

I too have fished various

I too have fished various lakes around Evje, have had some really nice fish too. I know another dutch guy who's running a hunting/fishing guiding service there http://www.scanedtravel.no/ A really nice chap, and I've fished with him a few times. Last summer I guided this guy together with Hans Bock, Peter Elberse and others over here. I must say that you dutch people are a really nice bunch!

Well I may see you next summer, and I'll look forward to your stories from middle Norway.

We arrived at Langesund and went to the north-west and fished the Nidelva region. After that we went to the Evje region (been there as a kid for more than 8 holidays) and fished de Otra and surrounding area's. At least something like that, we went by camper and just drove without a plan 😄.For next year we are planning a trip to middle-Norway, 300km north of Trondheim but when we arrive in south-Norway again I will keep you on that promise :!: 😉
