Short take

If you are into classic salmon flies - like the real classics - and like to divulge in their history and origin, this is a book for you. A detailed history of the fishing off the estate of Balmoral in the river Dee, and a wonderful coverage of the flies used in this fishing - some very well known patterns and some, which are probably almost unknown - as indicated in the title.
Features lots of B/W illustrations and photos in both color and B/W, historic as well as contemporary. A true gem for the tyers into these classics.

This book or video hasn't been reviewed in depth. We have of course read or seen it, but decided to give it a short review due to its age, it being a revision, its position in the market or some other reason.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
