Even though I consider sunrises and in particular sunsets as subjects more suitable for teenage bedroom posters than for fishing pictures, I have to admit that I have shot my fair part of them

This winter has been a long one. We're in the beginning of March, and still the ice is covering much of the coastal water, many lakes and even streams. But Martin usually don't long for spring. Don't worry: It comes no matter what!

Spring where art thou?

No matter which season we are in the fish are there in the water, even in the winter. They do not migrate to Africa along with the swarms of swallows and storks, they just tend to change their location looking for shelter which protects them from the coming frosty, chilly weather and they keep on feeding.

Officially spring has started. So of course it started snowing!

When King Winter and the Ice Queen reign over the waters the fishing slows down. What better to do than to get out your camera and snap some pictures of the beautiful landscapes, icy hardship and the rare but well-deserved fish.

This spring has been a strange one. I have never experienced anything that unstable. We are well into May and it's still very cold and windy. The predominant wind has been North East for almost since new year - and NE is about the worst wind you could want in Denmark. We miss the mild Southern winds that bring up warmth from central Europe and makes water flow the right way.

Just two weeks ago it was still winter. Now it's summer, guys wear shorts - girls even less.

Due to the long and cold winter, the season is only slowly starting.

Water conditions change from day to day and one location varies from clear, calm water to muddy water with high waves. The fish are there almost no matter what, and often rough weather offer better fishing than a calm surface.

Sea run brown trout can be fished in the Baltic during the summer too. Daytime fishing is possible, but evenings, nights and mornings excel.

As all other kinds of fishing, the hunt for sea trout varies greatly through the year. But opposite many other fishing, there's no low season or high season.
