This is the really short intro to the Global FlyFisher
You have found the site The Global FlyFisher, one of the quiet but significant cornerstones of the fly fishing internet.
This site has been around for more than 30 years, and has existed since the early days of the web – dating back to the mid-1990s
It has grown into a very large, freely accessible archive dedicated to both fly fishing and fly tying.
It’s not a flashy, trend-driven platform, but rather a deep well of knowledge built by passionate anglers and tyers over decades.
You will find everything from all kinds of fly patterns with detailed step-by-step tying guides to personal fishing stories, reviews, destination reports, photo galleries, art and much more.
There are thousands of articles, videos and images to explore, covering everything you can imagine related to our common passion ... and probably a few things that you had never imagined.
Whether you’re looking to improve your tying skills, discover a new (or old) pattern, or just get inspired or entertained, there’s basically always something worth digging into.
But be warned: GFF is a very deep rabbit hole!
The site is independent, non-commercial, ad-free and focused on genuine content rather than number of page views, quick clicks, commercial noise or marketing.
There’s no publisher, company or organization behind the site.
It’s currently run by a single person, namely me – Martin Joergensen – with the help of hundreds of generous contributors who have supplied content for the site for free.
I’m based in Denmark and maintain and develop the site from my office in my home south of Copenhagen.
I have been working on the site since day one – and a bit before that actually.
I run it for fun as a spare time project, and make no money from it, but enjoy the fact that the site keeps delivering high quality online content to the global fly fishing and fly tying community.
So welcome to GFF!
