I fished last Tuesday. Connetquot on Long Island. What a place. At one point I stopped fishing and sat on one of the platforms watching brook trout do their mating dance, turning sideways and fanning the sand and gravel streambed. Amazing. One rainbow above the hatchery tried to mimic his bigger steelhead cousins - at least that's how it seemed in my little 3wt rod. Man - I had a ball.
Lessee - time before that was August on the upper East Branch of the Delaware with some friends. Most of the afternoon was rained out, but we did manage a bit of early evening fishing at the top of a big bend pool. The day was more about seeing friends than fishing, however. At least this year I had plenty of flies to fish with.
