Chris Edghill

I have fished from the time I could walk down to the beach only 20 feet from our house, but at the age of six I was taken by that long rod my uncle put in my hand one cold day in Scotland.

This is how Chris describes himself

My name is Chris Edghill, born on the island of Barbados in the Caribbean and now living in Helsingborg, Sweden - along with my wife and three children. I work as an Art Director and photographer.

I have fished from the time I could walk down to the beach only 20 feet from our house, but at the age of six I was taken by that long rod my uncle put in my hand one cold day in Scotland and when he showed me a tin of dry flies I knew this was it. Don't get me wrong, it is not that I think all other types of fishing are lesser just that I would rather do it with my fly rod. Since that day in Scotland I have fished for anything with fins both in the sea and in fresh water. This has taken me around the World a few times, from living six years on New Zealand to the other side of the world Sweden, where I have now lived for nearly 20 years.

Most of my fishing is now done along the coast of Öresund. Either wading or float tubing for sea run browns, cod and garfish and the rivers of north Sweden and Norway for brown trout, grayling and pike.

I have caught tarpon at home that made my reel sing and my heart stop when they jumped and I have caught small trout in a stream high up in the mountains on tiny dry flies - the thrill is still the same every time. To catch a fish with a fly rod is pleasurable but equally important is the surroundings and friends where you do it.

Hi Chris, I'm goi...

Hi Chris,

I'm going to Barbados next month (February) and would like to try fly fishing for bonefish and tarpon, if possible. Can you recommend specific spots on the island where I might have a shot at catching those species? Specific fly patterns?

Any other information you could provide me regarding fly fishing on Barbados would be much appreciated!

Pleased to meet you ...

Pleased to meet you Chris. I'm Stefano and writing to you from Italy. Just met your creations (I mean the sunlight shrimp and Mirror shrimp) on "Fly Patterns" web. Simply wonderful!!!. So I would like to buy few of them. While waiting for your answer, I wish to you a good day.
Best regards. Stefano

fly fishing Barbados...

I'm travelling to Barbados in February for vacation. As with all of my vacations near the water, I plan to bring a couple fly rods. I was just wanting to pick your brain about any beach fly fishing opportunities on the Island. I would also love to know of any fly fishing guides that I could hire.
Thanks a bunch,
Jay

I'm doing a bit of fly guiding here in Barbados, so for tips or guiding, contact thomasrunerasmussen@gmail.com or facebook:barbados bonefish flat.

Also an article on diybonefish.com under barbados

Cheers.

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
