Brian,
Never mind simple comments! You are more than welcome to write as long as you please.
I'm glad you found this helpful, and happy that you caught your first fish.
And yes, I think you're hooked!

Thank you thank you thank you,I knew absolutly nothing about setting up a fly reel,or how to fish with one. Now I know.a little, but what little I know was enough to go fly fishing & have a great 1st day experience .I owe it all to you, I setup my per your xlint instructions, I tried the wetfly method at one of my favorite spots on the Mckenzie river.everything you mentioned in your article about the beginner fishing with wetflys happened to me.the good & the bad, I fished off the bank so I lost some flys in the trees, bushes,& rocks. Thank god for the white water my casting has plenty of room for improvment, but as long as I got it out in front of me she drifted down stream.I had lost 5 out of my 7 flies that I bought in a hr.or so & not a single strike. I ate lunch was a bit frustrated ,I hate getting skunked and usually won't go home until I catch something. So I grabbed my old faithful trout rod w/spinng reel. I brought it just in case, well I didn't get any bitesfor a long time.I finally caught one. Now knowing where they were I grabbed my fly rod. Within 15-20 min I caught 3 trout. They weren't the biggest fish, just like you said but I was so happy when I caught my 1st fish ever on a fly rod . I got 2 more in a few minutes , I didn't even know trout that small were allowed to find dinner for themselves. It didn't even matter to me, I was just so excited to be catching fish fly fishing. Then I lost my fly on a bush. I had one left, but will they go for this one? I casted out & BAM I got hit hard,my rod was actually bending, then she was jumping out of the water,it was so cool although it wasn't huge a good 12-13 incher it made my day. Short while later I caught one more a little smaller.I haven't had so much fun for who knows how long, I know I got carried away with this (what was suppose to be a simple comment) but I am still pumped & I owe it all to you & your great website.thanks again . P.S. guess what I am doing tomorrow? You got it & I am leaving the power bait &worms at home. Do ya think I am hooked?
I use this tools myself and it works very well for caenis, trico spinner, mayfly etc.
I"am not so satisfied with the existing wing material. In stead of this I use sheets
of very thin (a kind of) polypropyleen. It has the right color (milky-white) and stays
dry all the time. Give it a try !
Hi Mike,
before Rügen there are two outings on trout. I figured out that next Sa/Sun is doable and the 15th and early morning on the 16th is doable. After that trout season closes.
Is yours already open? I am not sure about the seasons.
Anyhow this upcoming WE I have good company, but no fishing.
Best regards
Florian
Excellent hook reference, Thank you. I noticed that you do not have a photo of the Sealey 1762B or 1714B . I will be happy to send you the 1762B 2/0 - 10XL or 1714B 3/0 6XL if you would like.
I would take a sample or 2 of the 1714B 3/0 6XL. I've got a nice range of the 1762B to post, as well as the 1797J and another shorter 4xl model. Thanks David
I have to agree with Donald, very good article and very comprehensive
A very nice collection AFT (I'm a bit of a lazy sod).
I usually dress a lot of spiders and Flymphs, but I am very partial to dressing
Sea-trout (Sea run browns) flies and I like your collection very much.
Iam looking forward to tying some of these flies as the Overtaker really looks the part, Iam a big fan of the FITS extra small turbo disc as it gives small tubed salmon flies a fantatic finish and they fish beautifully.A soft haclkle behind these little discs is a must.
Betty,
Shown NOTHING! Nonsense! What did you expect from a web site dealing with fishing on a page called fishing the Muddler Minnow? A biological treatise?
Don't expect the phone to ring anytime soon. This isn't an information call center. Try searching the web yourself. A resource such as FishBase. Lots of info on muddlers to be found there! Even pictures!

I used some greenwell glory patterns basically a trout spider pattern in the surf in Northern Natal South Africa - I never thought they would work given its predominatly a freshwater pattern - I cast back into the swell from behind the surf and had very many fish. I'm definitely a spider convert.
Well! Now I know what you look like any way.....nice fish!
I would like to send a few streamers for the blog. All Carrie Stevens patterns? What patterns would you like?
Awesome start...I am a streamer addict!
thanks Robbie!
I'll send you an email shortly with some details!
Cheers
Darren
What if you got someone /or yourself tie a set of Grey Ghosts or similar on these . Would make for a good group for someone to buy for the cause
That's a great idea Bob, but i don't think "these" hooks would be the best for a Grey Ghost. I do have some #6 Allcock 1810 or some #2 Willis hooks that might be a candidate for something of the likes.
I have been shown NOTHING...I don't want to see artificial fly tying.. I want a picture of a Muddler fish...period..If all else fails phone me at 989-761-7458 I, jusy old and curious...Thank You Granny B
elnegropescador,
Maybe and maybe not.
I'm not able to grant you any such permission, but you will have to follow the video to the source (Vimeo, YouTube etc.) and contact the individual copyright holders. I just use the sharing function that the originators have provided to show you the best videos that I have found out there.

Hi hares ear, here is a flounder I caught on a bonefish fly (Tan gotcha)
Hope you get some.
All the best.
Mike
… I have a small favor to ask.
Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.
The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
