Michael,
You can still get prewaxed threads. like the Danville and Monocord. These are widely available and can be found in online shops too. Alternatively you can apply wax yourself, and many types of wax will work as mentioned in this article, which I can see you already found.

Thanks for the instructions - I'm going to try the microwave, since I have to clean it out anyway from my last experiment with scrambled eggs this morning. I cannot wait to try this out - tight lines.
A bit of help here. I used prewaxed thread in the 1970' and 80's and i was fine. Now these new threads I am trying to apply beeswax... any suggestions?
Michael
BROTHER YOU ROCK!
Hello! thanks a lot.before i read this article,i dont know so much about J.C.,but i love these fethers.now i have learned how i can repair and color,so they be more beutiful.HAPPY FISHING TO ALL.
Great fly,
I tie a similar style greenwells glory using a naples yellow midge floss and splitting the floss and adding very fine rabbit fur
that gives the fly the same type of killer edge as your fly just scale everything down.

I have to correct myself. The material used for the Fluff isn't SLF - but STF (Synthetic Translucent Fibre). Sorry - sometimes not only fish are stupid :-)
Thanks. I hope they are as successful for you as they have been for me.

Reminds me of a simple version of Hansen's Electric Frog which I've been using for bass. Martin doesn't allow urls in the comments but you can find a picture with a web search.
Catch and Release should be considered more with game fishing. Its anoys me when i am fishing and i see anglers knock fish after fish on the head, there is no need, its just greed.
Catch and Release fishing is a lot like a game of golf. You don't have to eat the ball to have a good time

I think that in Spanish it is "CAPTURA Y SUELTA".
I tied up about four Czech Nymph looking flies with a glass bead head. I weighed the shank with some lead though...I read this post previously. I then saw a tungsten bead headed Czech Nymph...and thought I wonder how cool a glass bead would be. So I am trying different hooks out now. The glass bead head looks great, but I am not thrilled with my hook choice. I will probably post a fly on my Photobucket if I can get a couple I am fairly happy with.
I found a black squirrel hide sold at Gander Mountain. (I bought it at the store, not online) I do not know if it was natural or dyed black though.
As you say Martin, very innovative system.
Those of us that tie tube flies have seen a number of different ideas this past few years but I believe this new system is going to the one that takes the cake.
We are in the process of setting up a distributor for North America and hope to have the product in shops asap.
If any one has any questions or enquiries please contact me at your leisure.
Regards Neil.
It´s a long time since we´ve gone fishing together, Tobi! ;)
This may be a long shot but I am looking to buy another Sully's rod finisher. I bought one 3 years ago when I helped a Varsity Scout troop learn how to make their own custom fly rods. Before our 5 day pack/fishing trip through the Uintah's I loaned it out to one of the boys who was late getting his finished and never got it back. Sadly I think it's history. Can anyone direct me to where I can get another one? The one I had before had two rubber reel seat holders instead of just one like the photos show. I would like another double one if possible. My son wants to make his own rod now - I couldn't be more excited. Please help me :) Thanks
… I have a small favor to ask.
Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.
The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
