Now I've found what was keeping me out of the forum, you'll be plagued with me at every verse-end!

Steve, you are a lucky so-and-so, being able to fish Fyn so much. Tight Lines tomorrow, catch one for me. I will have to wait for Thursday to go bass-fishing, by then we have rain forecast... so it might be fly-tying instead, but I'll get to the coast if its anything like good enough. I want to see what I can do with a #5 rod and shooting head, plus a few small flies - I've been tying them up tonight.

Kai, sorry for misspelling your name previously. Tell me, did you get offered the job you were going for? Do you want it? Tell the news, as Nan is dying to know!

It might be your first Danish sea trout but mark my words...It's not the last.

I will put you right over my personal stocked cage next time and place three divers bearing sea trout in the water in front of you.

I look forward to seeing you both next year, maybe, hopefully sooner?

GFF Summit

To all the GFF Summit people,

Our thanks to all of you guys for your company, help and friendship over the week-end. Special thanks to Martin for setting it all up, to Kie for the fly that worked the magic, to Kasper for loads of flies and advice (I'll try those flies on the bass next week) to Ripley for getting me to the first fish.... and to Henning who is cuddling Nan on the photo!!

If you are going to do this all again next year, then we are hoping to be part of it.

Bunny Bug?

I'm surprise nobody has mentioned the bunny bug yet. It's a pike classic, and I first heard about it in Pike on the Fly http://www.amazon.com/Pike-Fly-Flyfishermans-Northerns-Muskies/dp/1555661130. Tie it on a larger saltwater hook, it has bead-chain eyes, bunny strip tail, some flash in the tail to make it shiny, and the body is palmered bunny strip. It's durable (you can catch 20 pike on it and it's still very useable--the pike are chewing on leather!!!), easy to tie, and effective.

The only bad thing about it is that a wet bunny bug is a pain to cast because it weighs about as much as a small brookie. I would recommend a 9-weight line and maybe a shooting head system just to get it out there.

I know I sound like a minimalist from the Andy Warhol days but my most effective Esox fly, as well as my most effective Barracuda fly, has always been a silver tinsel covered medium to long shank streamer hook with the appropriate length yellow maribou wing tied on at the head. No tail or eyes or anything else. It is all a waste to me because after a few fish all you have left is a nicely shredded fly with a hook to recycle back to the vise. I will sometimes throw in a bit of red maribou. That is about as fancy as I need. Strip it fast or put the rod under your arm and do a hand over hand and make sure your hook is needle sharp.

I don't have problem with using of magic head in casting. Nothing. If strong water on fishing the head is back, beacuse very shake the tail.

Fly Patch?

Well, I think I'll pass on this idea. As much as I love the idea - I have already moulded some sort of fly storage system in my 6 year old hat.

So many people have taken pictures of my hat over the years, that I dare to count.
So many have offered to buy me a new hat but I have politely refused.

This picture was taken by Kasper Mühlbach. I think he secretly wanted it but couldn't find the words. :?
I imagine it has a place in his wallet or bedroom wall... :shock:

1 week after summit...

Just to let you know. Although the wind has stopped...The sea trout are still taking advantage of the conditions.
This beauty 58cm took me into backing and held a fight for 10 minutes.

1 week after the GFF summit the sea trout have moved into the neighbouring fjord / bay.
Wedellsborg is dead. 😢

But we have found them. 😄

It's just a matter of time before they enter the streams.

Steve I'll be on Fyn (Hindsholm) from October 07th till 14th with three friends of mine - all nice guys.
On Sunday we'll go by boot, in order to catch some cods. Sometimes something in the pan is not so bad. But the other days, please fell free to join in.

Steps 9 and 10 pictu

Steps 9 and 10 pictures need to be switched around and there are a few misspelled words, not referring to the European "grey" either. (Martin writes: Fixed most of it) Nice fly though. I found a similar fly somewhere only tied with the opposite loop. I've caught fish on them when nothing else was working. They are a one fish fly for me though. Never found a way to perk them up other than putting on a new fly and drying them off.
