This iconic pattern from Joe Messinger was one of the first to show the versatility of deer hair as a fly tying material. The original was tied with a very different technique than the one I show here.

Hook: Mustad Heritage R30AP # 10-16
Tying thread: Nano silk 6/0 100D
Tail: Fine natural deer hair (summer season)
Body: White and Grey spinning deer hair
Wings: Fine natural deer hair (summer season)
Hackle: Natural brown cock hackle
