Today I’m presenting a small, simple nymph that works extremely well when tied on small and very small nymph hooks — sizes #18 and #20. Like any small fly, it’s tied in a minimalist way: just a body and a small thorax, but that’s enough to make fish curious.
With its translucent body, this pattern generally imitates small stoneflies, mayflies, or small buzzers and larvae. It’s hard not to like it — its effectiveness comes from its simplicity.
And to avoid overdoing it with strong colors or aggressive flash, adding a small amount of tinsel under the body makes the fly visible enough without being too flashy.
