For years people have asked me the same question:
"If you could only fish a handful of trout flies, which ones would you choose?"
There isn't one perfect fly for every river, hatch, or season. But if I had to build a fly box using only five patterns, this is exactly what I'd carry.
In this video I explain not only which flies made my list, but why. We'll cover when to fish them, what they imitate, how I fish them, why I chose them over other classic patterns, and the honorable mentions that almost made the cut.
Whether you're just starting fly fishing or you've been tying flies for decades, these five patterns have earned a permanent place in my fly box.
