Great article... but you forgot one thing - AGE.
Please don't step into my river unless you are a least 60 - I have earned the right to be here - young punk.
I may stand here all day and cast a size 28 midge and catch nothing, but don't come here and catch MY fish using that fancy schmancy new technique called nymphing - that's not flyfishing. It's borderline snagging...

RASKE?!? No freakin' way. Thanks for the kind words, man. It's been a long time. I hope you are pleased that we're keeping Raske's streamer page alive. And you should realize the silver pheasant wing quills above are the ones you sent me years ago along with a couple dyed olive mallard flank feathers for flatwings. Fly tyers don't throw away anything.

David: I did not know of your recent health issue. So a belated GET WELL SOON. I hope we can get together in Maine as soon as you fell up to taking a ride. Sixteen year ago, while working for Maine DIF&W I started a program called Hooked on Fishing Not on Drugs. teaching kid how to fish. I am glad to hear that you are also involved with fishing and fly tying. Take care children

Gary, love this version. Every time I hear the name of this fly, I think of you. The pattern is great, but I think it must be your favorite streamer of all time. You did a splendid job on this fly, love it!

you tie a beautiful fly - I may not always comment on them (flyguy) but certainly appreciate your work and you posting them for us to enjoy!

All good, but for the serious dubbers, perhaps consider a container with a paper or cloth filter and pumping in compressed air...from a compressor not canned air. Just made one and its a serious dubbing machine...yarn into dubbing by the cubic foot in minutes. try missouriflies industrial dubbing blender for images and how too.

Actually, I've taken the tour at the Sage factory twice and watched the women wrap guides. They do all alignment of guides by eye, and it only takes about 30 seconds.

How do we purchase videos of Davie McPhail's fly patterns

Is the "Sipping Dry" out on purchasable video? My son and I used to fishing the Missouri a number of years ago. he lives in New York now and I'd love to be able to purchase a couple of the DVD's of this film. Please let me know. Thanks. Dennis Gambill

A friend of mine almost drowned when he fell into a river a couple of years ago. He had to undo his waders while under water. It was a very close call. He made it, but only to be diagnosed with cancer. He died within the next year. I sometimes wish he'd drowned that day. Be careful, yes, but don't think you can manage the future.
