GFF BTS

This section tells a bit about the technology behind and development of the Global FlyFisher. Nothing at all about fishing or fly tying, but interesting to some.

Nerd alert

This is NOT about fly fishing or fly tying, but about site development and nerdy stuff.

Articles in this section will not hit the front page of the site, but live here in their own little discrete section. They will not be about fly fishing or fly tying, but about web development and the things I do to produce, maintain and develop the site.

They will deal with configuring a web server, installing and maintaining a content management system (CMS, in this case Drupal), programming new facilities into Drupal using PHP and much more.
Articles like these have sneaked their way onto the site before, but only now and then when there have been major changes or trouble on the site – and not nearly as detailed or technical as these new articles will be. The old series has been published in the blog under the title Disk Space Blues, mainly dealing with server problems.

If you want to read these new articles and follow the development, it's the tag GFF BTS you want to look for. Welcome to the Global FlyFisher Behind The Scenes. If you want to read about fly fishing and fly tying, this isn't the section for you, but if you are into the technical nitty-gritty of developing and driving a large web site, getting off on words like PHP, Drupal, cache, jQuery and such, this section could provide some good reads.

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
