Hi guys, today I want to show you how to tie a simple and effective Hi-Vis CDC Emerger.
Before we start, I want to explain a few important details about this fly. This is not just a copied pattern, but a fly developed and refined through years of fishing.
A good emerger should have two important qualities: it must sit correctly in the water, and it must be easy to see.
This Hi-Vis CDC Emerger is designed to sit in the right position, with the body slightly under the surface, just like an insect moving from the nymph stage to the adult stage. Many emerger patterns do not sit properly because of their construction, and this can make fish more suspicious.
The second important detail is visibility. Many fly tiers use CDC feathers in only one colour, but small emergers can become very hard to track on the water. A simple and very effective solution is to combine two contrasting CDC colours: white and grey, white and black, grey and yellow, grey and pink, and so on.
Try it — it is simple, inexpensive, and very effective.
Materials:
- Emerger hook size 16 ( I llike a lot the E500BL from Demmon, beautiful shape)

-Body made of thread in yellow color ribbed with brown 50DEN Sumo Power Thread
-Wing Case -CDC ( gray and white combined)
-Wing- CDC in natural gray and white
Small tying tip:
-During years of fishing I’ve found that the ideal CDC wing length is equal to the distance between the hook eye and the hook bend.
