The John Story Wet Fly has an interesting history. The John Storey fly was originally tied as a wet fly. It was a very productive wet fly but it eventually evolved into a dry fly. As the story (no pun there) goes... the grandson of John Storey continued to tie his grandfathers flies but did not like or had some difficulty tying in the wings. Eventually, this led him to leave the wing extended out in front of the fly and it created a sort of emerger dry fly. In this video I show how the wet fly can be tied using more modern techniques and I also tie the wet fly version as it was tied over a hundred years ago to demonstrate the issue with the wing and how it is applied and tied in for the wet fly version. --Enjoy
