The Practical Fly Fisher by John Jackson; The 1889 Edition
The 1889 edition was published by J. C. Nimmo in London and was included as a supplement to a deluxe edition of The Compleat Angler. It contains Jackson's famous dressings for North Country flies and ten hand-coloured plates illustrating around 120 natural and artificial flies.
What makes Jackson's work so special is that it is based on practical fishing rather than theory. Many of the flies he described over 170 years ago are still incredibly effective today.
