Does anyone out there know where one can purchase the pre-fabricated caddis pupa bodies used by Shane Stalcup in his video of tying a caddis pupa? I would like to try them, but don't know where to find them.
Thanks.

Grant,

You can read this article for some information on UV Resins. They basically come with each their type of lamp, but are mostly interchangeable.

What type of uv light is used on super glue and other types of uv glue. I would use it on the copper John.

Your video was just what I was looking for on how to tie a Wolly Bugger. I am new to tying and will use your video as my guide. I assume if I want to use a bead head that I just install it first and proceed. Sure appreciate the information, I have been looking for months for a sight like yours, well done.

Hi my name is Charles, and I would like some help in finding a flytyer from Japan who ties a floating Minnow similar to the Iwai minnow but a larger body, it is mylar in blue and also geen and is filled with poly ethylene. If someone has a link to tying flies or photos of floating minnows I would love to hear from them.

Bill, We send the...

Bill,

We send the thanks on to all thos who produce the videos. As you write: there's a lot of work in making these videos.

Regarding the pager, it's a standard pager. I have made a View All Videos Paged page where you can ask for more videos in a page in the top of the page - up to 600 and even 1200 per page, which renders only 8 respectively 4 pages. It takes significantly longer time to form a page, but will give a lot less leafing through pages to find a certain interval.

Is that something useful? Then I can add a similar link to the normal page.

Thank you to GFF and...

Thank you to GFF and all the individuals who have taken the time, effort and, possibly, expense to share their patterns and tying techniques. Having done some video tutorials in other applications I know how much behind-the-scenes work it can take to get it right. I wish we had this when I was a kid trying to teach myself how to tie. Would've saved me a ton of time if I didn't have to go to the library or buy a book every time I wanted to see what a pattern looked like.

On a separate note, is there a search method for getting to a particular page? I'd like to see what's in the middle of the 250 pages of videos but it seems the only way to get there is by clicking through 1 page at a time or by clicking on the highest page number displayed to see the next few pages.

Thanks

Alan,

Thank you for your kind comment. I'm really glad that the site helps you. That is the whole idea and it's good to hear that it works.

Just a note to tell ...

Just a note to tell you how much I appreciate your website. It has been such a great help. I am a retired pastor/police officer and have been flyfishing since 2000 and it is the only way I know how to fish. I took a course in flyfishing & flytying in Kansas in 2000 and my instructors were very good. But one forgets alot when away from the source. My wife & I became missionaries to Korea with the Nazarene Church (Methodist) for a number of years and recently returned to the US. I'm back into flyfishing here in Louisiana. I found your website and I thoroughly enjoy it and it has helped me a lot. Thank you for all your work & sharing in flyfishing. Blessings to you.

Gilson,

We screen every single comment, and only publish those that are suitable for publishing. Some might have a rougher tone than others, but all are clean enough to be seen. We do get inappropriate comments, but they never find their way out on the site.

This is a great site...

This is a great site, one I visit daily and have taken techniques from and incorporated into my own tying. One suggestion, however: for tying videos NOT in english, how about posting the recipe or pattern materials in english somewhere in the video description. For example, Mr. Giancarlo from Italy ties some remarkable flies that I would like to try, but not knowing the materials used hinders me, and others I suspect. I don't understand a word he says, and while I could approximate his efforts, it would be nice to know the exact ingredients. Just look at the instructions to comment on this page: Only in English..Just a thought.

It would be helpful ...

It would be helpful if more people specified what size hook they're using while tying.

Dear visitor, We ...

Dear visitor,

We have contacted some of the tyers and video producers and told them that we use their videos, but no - in general we don't have an individual permission.

But all the videos we brig are from services that offer embedding (the thing we do) as a part of their package and actually endorse that other sites use the videos as part of their content. The submitter of the video can usually protect the video from such an embedding in which case we can't use it.

You will find that this is a way of sharing that is used widely on the web, and contrary to images and photos, the whole video community is based on this form af spreading of the videos. If any of the originators asked us to remove their content, we would of course immediately do so.
