The Rabbit leech is a pattern that has been around for a while. However it is just as effective today as it was when it was first created. It is a very simple pattern, and extremely effective. Perfect for fisherman and tiers of all skill levels. This means it's a great fly for the beginner to start with. Now, a beginner could tie these as simply with just a strip of rabbit fur tied onto a hook and still catch fish. However using techniques like dubbing loops, will make this even better. And it's a great fly to practice making dubbing loops with. So a win win for the beginner tier. Learn new techniques, while still tying a fly that will catch no matter how pretty you make the fly. However if you want to spruce it up even more, you could add hackle collars, flash, or mylar tubing for a body to make this fly even better. Here is a video of me tying this exact fly but with some added steps. https://youtu.be/stM_sb05tN4?si=EfsHUUR7REpanVGD
Now I still recommend the beginner streamer tier, to start with a wooly bugger, as stated on last months series. I believe if you haven't tied any flies before, the wooly bugger is the best streamer to start on. Here is the video on the flies that I recommend the beginner to start with, 4 total flies, one in each category of fishing. Nymphs, streamers, dries, and saltwater. https://youtu.be/Su4WOeVsgPc?si=7SWP8dDArzpbOq5J
