First call

The forums are very quiet

The Global FlyFisher forum has existed for almost as long as the site, and the oldest posts are more than 20 years old. Forums aren't what they used to be. Social media has taken over a lot of their roles, and the GFF form is very quiet ... to put it mildly.
We keep everything online for the sake of history, and preserve the posts for as long as possible, but as you will see, quite a few of them aren't in a good shape, but rely on old images hosted elsewhere, which are no longer available, odd codes from old systems and much more, which can't be shown in a decent way.
But the posts are here, and you can - if you insist - start new threads. But don't stay awake waiting for replies, because they are unfortunately few and far apart.

Good people,

This is the first post for the GFF Summit 2007. We will use this forum for all the practical arrangements, discussions and contacts for driving etc.

Read the intro and sign up in this article.

So the venue has stayed the same, I hoped for that deserted island Ripley talked about last year. However, wherewer it´ll take place, I cannot miss it :D

Hi Vanuz,

Don't worry to much about the Island.
The option given is the best by far and gives more choice and flexibility.

Besides, Steve and I will be out fishing on the Friday (AGAIN), to reap all the fish!!!
Remember last time? :D
All being told, Steve and I landed about 25 fish at the last GFF summit, on the Friday between 50 and 60cm. A couple attached.

This year I intend to catch bigger fish. The heat is on...!

See you soon Vanuz!

Please, tell me where you hide the "cage" this year

1. Cages will be placed at certain intervals along the coast.
2. In addition we are considering divers that will swim around and physically hook the sea trout on my fly.

I will have a couple of nice sea trout in the back of my car for those that wish to buy one at the weekend.

Hi Ripley,

Your idea with the diver …, I think this is not going to work well!
Today I created a “fly” for diver fishing and I’m just going to prove it in September.

Oh by the way, please don’t wade to deep at the same time (not deeper than 6 or 7 cm), because I’m not absolutely sure if the “fly” knows the difference between a diver and a fly fisher.

See you soon

Looks like a golden retreiver tied of with the propeller from the Titanic - but just polished up?

Rip :D

No Ripley,

not a Golden Retriever!
The archetype is the Beast of Baskerville - see and feel it in aktion.

I have already tied one for Henning, did you want a special one for your own?

Kind regards

Kai

Hi Kai,

By all means...Tie me one. I'll try it.
I will be using a very simple tried and tested fly at the summit which I am sure will do me proud!

The waters very "ripley".

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
See more details about what you can do to help in this blog post.

The Global FlyFisher has recently been updated to a new publishing system, and there may be a few glitches while the last bits get fixed. If you meet anything that doesn't work, please let me know.
