Fishing Glue

The forums are very quiet

The Global FlyFisher forum has existed for almost as long as the site, and the oldest posts are more than 20 years old. Forums aren't what they used to be. Social media has taken over a lot of their roles, and the GFF form is very quiet ... to put it mildly.
We keep everything online for the sake of history, and preserve the posts for as long as possible, but as you will see, quite a few of them aren't in a good shape, but rely on old images hosted elsewhere, which are no longer available, odd codes from old systems and much more, which can't be shown in a decent way.
But the posts are here, and you can - if you insist - start new threads. But don't stay awake waiting for replies, because they are unfortunately few and far apart.

Hi,

I was wondering whether anyone can recommend a waterproof glue for ensuring my braided butts remain on my flyline, several sites have mentioned that most glues gradually start to detoriate when wet! :?

Does anyone have any recommendations for a suitable waterproof glue, one which does not dry rock hard like cement but remains pliable :?:

Cheers
Jonathan

hi,

I dont think that glue exists ! I use loctite 406 plastic and rubber,I nail not double catch braided loop to line and a drop or two on knot ,this will leech onto line and braid so be careful and don't use to much.I use this on all shooting heads and I have never had a loop let go ,I tested it on an old line some time ago and was very very strong ,only drawback is cost of 406 is 48 euro small bottle !!

..... Found a glue on the net which seems to do what I wanted "Miracle Glue"

Apparently Miracle Glue can also be used to mend holes in your waders, so there's an added bonus!

..... Here's another glue which gets good reviews "Pro's Soft Bait Glue"

As if it were that easy, apparently they only deliver in the US!

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
See more details about what you can do to help in this blog post.

The Global FlyFisher was updated to a new publishing system early March 2025, and there may still be a few glitches while the last bits get fixed. If you meet anything that doesn't work, please let me know.
