GFF Summit: Practicalities, arriving & fishing Friday

The forums are very quiet

The Global FlyFisher forum has existed for almost as long as the site, and the oldest posts are more than 20 years old. Forums aren't what they used to be. Social media has taken over a lot of their roles, and the GFF form is very quiet ... to put it mildly.
We keep everything online for the sake of history, and preserve the posts for as long as possible, but as you will see, quite a few of them aren't in a good shape, but rely on old images hosted elsewhere, which are no longer available, odd codes from old systems and much more, which can't be shown in a decent way.
But the posts are here, and you can - if you insist - start new threads. But don't stay awake waiting for replies, because they are unfortunately few and far apart.

Summit participants,

I think we're about set regarding the number of people attending. As it often happens with these events we've had some cancellations and some late-comers. The last money is almost, and I will pay the remaining hostel fee in a couple of days.

So we're all set and ready for some practical stuff:

Those bringing a cell phone, please mail me the number (please remember the country code). I will mail out the list for you to print. That will enable us to communicate during the weekend.

There will be some fishing already Friday on Fyn, and those participating in that can drop me a mail. Ripley will probably be orchestrating this day's fishing. He didn't know until now, but local knowledge won him the job ;-)
We will most likely be on Wedellsborg, but just in case, let me know that you want to fish Friday and when you expect to arrive Friday. People coming from Jutland will pass right by Wedellsborg on the way to Odense.

I will try to be at the hostel around 17:00, and I suggest that we try to gather at the hostel between 17:00 and 18:30 to say hello, enjoy a cold one, distribute keys for the rooms and settle all kinds of practical matters. The rooms are available from 16:00 should anybody arrive early. Everything is booked in my name, and picking up the keys will win you the right to administer them!
Those wanting to dine out can make arrangements on the spot. I think the group may be a bit large for one place, but we are close to the center, and there are plenty places to go. Last year a group went fishing Friday evening, and that's of course an option too.

We have two double rooms, one single and three 8-bed rooms. So with some luck we will all get a bed.

Please notice that you will need to bring bed-linen yourself (or rent for DKK 60.- at the hostel).
The hostel will provide pillows, blankets and duvets (Danish: dyner).
Sleeping bags are NOT allowed! That's the hostel's rule.

The hostel won't be very pleased either if we drink our own alcoholic beverages in the rooms. They ask kindly on a sign in the reception to buy there. I think a few cans of beer slipped by this rule last year, and I'm not the one guarding the doors to make sure this rule is kept. Nudge, nudge...

The breakfast buffet is every morning between 07:30 and 09:00. Depending on the weather we probably want to leave as early as possible, so the sooner you have breakfast, the longer the fishing day. Lunch bags are prepared for all of us, and each person should be able to pick one up at breakfast.

Our dinner Saturday is at 18:00. Last year's dinner was excellent and desert was exquisite!
The nachspiel with chatting, pictures and Jesper tying flies was a hightlight!

We need to be out at 10:00 am on Sunday, so basically we will bring everything when we leave for fishing the last day.

All for now. More will most likely follow.

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
See more details about what you can do to help in this blog post.

The Global FlyFisher has recently been updated to a new publishing system, and there may be a few glitches while the last bits get fixed. If you meet anything that doesn't work, please let me know.
