seatrout near Ebeltoft and Arhus

The forums are very quiet

The Global FlyFisher forum has existed for almost as long as the site, and the oldest posts are more than 20 years old. Forums aren't what they used to be. Social media has taken over a lot of their roles, and the GFF form is very quiet ... to put it mildly.
We keep everything online for the sake of history, and preserve the posts for as long as possible, but as you will see, quite a few of them aren't in a good shape, but rely on old images hosted elsewhere, which are no longer available, odd codes from old systems and much more, which can't be shown in a decent way.
But the posts are here, and you can - if you insist - start new threads. But don't stay awake waiting for replies, because they are unfortunately few and far apart.

next week I'm leaving for a trip to the region near Ebeltoft and Arhus. Due to the early spring I'm not sure witch fly patterns to use. Normaly I would guess on the rag worm pattern and the magnus. But I'm not sure if it's to late for the rag worm.

Can someone advise :?:

tight lines and regards,

Bjorn

Hi Bjorn,

The Magnus and ragworms will be perfect  Even though the temperatures have been pretty strange this winter/spring, the flies remain the same. Some might think the ragworm patterns are only a "spring-thing", but they work excellent all year round :D

Tight lines!

Cheers,
Peter

Hi Peter,

thanks for you're reaction. I have got my conviedence back :D Do you have also fished that region of Denmark?

Tight Lines,

Bjorn

No, I`m a "Fyn-man" Having said that, I doubt there`s a mile of Danish shore where the Magnus have'nt caught a seatrout

Be sure to post the result! :D

Have been to Fyn serveral times, both for fishing and summer holiday with the kids. Really love the Island. I will post the results of the trip next week. (can't wait, allready dreaming of it)

Hi Peter,

as promissed some feedback of the journey, the fishery was a bit disapointing. We have catched some seatrout but it was extreme hard to catch them. The nice weather of the last month makes the water temerature rise up to 12/13 degrees and from what i have heared it should be around 8 degrees. We have tryed every hour of the day, so we went at night and early sunrises ect.

We did catched a lot of garfish (hornfisk), the seatrout i have catched were all on a ... magnus 8). Never the less, i will be back in september / october and try my luck this summer in Norway.

regards,

Bjorn

You got some seatrout, and had a good trip, that`s what counts! :D Well done on adjusting to the warm weather we`ve been having here!

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
See more details about what you can do to help in this blog post.

The Global FlyFisher was updated to a new publishing system early March 2025, and there may still be a few glitches while the last bits get fixed. If you meet anything that doesn't work, please let me know.
