Ugly Fishermen

The forums are very quiet

The Global FlyFisher forum has existed for almost as long as the site, and the oldest posts are more than 20 years old. Forums aren't what they used to be. Social media has taken over a lot of their roles, and the GFF form is very quiet ... to put it mildly.
We keep everything online for the sake of history, and preserve the posts for as long as possible, but as you will see, quite a few of them aren't in a good shape, but rely on old images hosted elsewhere, which are no longer available, odd codes from old systems and much more, which can't be shown in a decent way.
But the posts are here, and you can - if you insist - start new threads. But don't stay awake waiting for replies, because they are unfortunately few and far apart.

Every fisherman in the world has ugly fishing partners. I'm not the exception.

Some of my friends are really ugly, as you can see on the first image below. But there is something called Photoshop, and in just two steps you can make your friends something suitable to show your pictures with no shame:

After watching Columbia-Argentina in the Copa America last night I can see why you need something to laugh about. Not that the US will do any better.

That is one of the reasons why I tie flies instead of watching football on TV. I was a kind of Hooligan watching those matches on TV, but some day, years ago, I almost broke my TV's screen with a beer can I throwed to the referee on a penalty. I was close to be the first "Barra Brava" (Hooligan) in Colombia! So I decided to quit football of my life.

No, seriously, the attitude and the mental state of colombian football players made me change my predilections for the the national football team of Uzbekistan! If they were fishermen, they were fishing with dynamite or poisoning rivers...

I like your explanation, Carlos. Someday, if you come to Washington, DC, we can go to a football game and then catch some Smallmouths. Good luck.

Bob,

You can count on it! I wish I'll be there soon.

How is stripped bass fishing in Chesapeake Bay? Three years ago I went to Washington D.C. for business, and I packed a #8 rod dreaming on fishing on the beach for those fish after reading some articles about it, but finally I couldn't. On the train from Washington to NY I met a guy who carries an Orvis rod tube, and he told me there was no good fishing on Chesapeake Bay (he was a trout fisher).

I'm still dreaming on that...

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
See more details about what you can do to help in this blog post.

The Global FlyFisher was updated to a new publishing system early March 2025, and there may still be a few glitches while the last bits get fixed. If you meet anything that doesn't work, please let me know.
