I have blogged about this before: GFF is getting a new headquarter.
The room in our new house, which serves as my day-to-day office when working as a self-employed consultant, is of course also where GFF is created and edited. I have been lucky enough to lay my hands on the largest separate room in the house, and that has been utilized to make a nice computer workspace and setting up a fly tying and photo table – plus a lot of shelves for books, fly tying, photo gear and whatnot.
When we moved in there were a couple of small shelves hung on one of the walls in this room, and I took them down before painting.
I saved them, and pooled them with a few more smaller shelves and bookcases that we already had. I imagined that these could become storage space above the fly tying table.
Since they were an assorted mess of shapes and colors, I decided to homogenize them a bit by painting them all the same color. Some were already a fresh, light green and rather than trying to cover this with some other color, I chose to paint everything the same green color.
A quick sketch, some measures, a lot of holes, plugs and screws and the shelves hung on the wall in a kind of ordered chaos.
I had a small IKEA plywood chest with four small drawers, and acquired a couple more and gave them a layer of green too.
So now a bit of my storage space in the office is green and has all kinds of shapes. I have put the first few odds and ends into them, but will start organizing things once I come home from next week's week-long fishing trip.
