Easy
- Run on the thread behind the bead, take down the shank in touching turns and remove the tag end.
- Cut off a 10cm/4-inch length of 3mm/1/8-inch brown organza ribbon and trim off one woven edge. Strip out the long fibres, using a dubbing needle to help if required, and set aside the stripped fibres.
- Cut off a 10cm/4-inch piece of yarn and separate the two twisted strands.
- Tie in the stripped ribbon and one yarn strand at the bend. Tie down up the shank.
- Twist the materials together and wind up the shank in touching turns, tie in and trim off the waste ends.
- Gather the organza fibres and chop up into 2.5cm/1-inch lengths.
- Spin the thread anti-clockwise to flatten it, split with the point of a needle and insert the organza fibres and spread them out along the split thread.
- Spin the bobbin clockwise to tighten the thread and trap the fibres.
- Wind on the fibres holding them back as you wind. Hold the fibres back and make thread turns to lock the fibres and the bead in place. Apply a little varnish or superglue to the thread wraps.
- Dub the collar, smear the thread with varnish, whip finish and cut the thread.
