Silk Sakasa

Nick Thomas
Wet fly
Easy
  1. Prepare the silk ribbon by first cutting off one edge with a sharp pair of scissors and then use a dubbing needle to pick and pull out the fibres that run along the ribbon. Continue until you reach the other edge and smooth out the cross fibres of the stripped ribbon.
  2. Run on the tying thread behind the beads and remove the tag end.
  3. Trim off a few of the fibres from one end of the stripped ribbon and tie it in by the woven edge.
  4. Wrap several turns of the ribbon against the beads, tie in and snip off the waste end.
  5. Build a tapered thread body, whip finish, and remove the thread.

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
