Pull the thread up vertically while holding on tightly to the material, guiding the loop down onto it, compressing and securing it. Once the thread is taught, you can let go of the material and assess the result. Keep the thread upwards, and when satisfied, take two more tight wraps in front on the first one formed by the loop.
