The Global FlyFisher has recently been updated to a new publishing system, and there may be a few glitches while the last bits get fixed. If you meet anything that doesn't work, please let me know.

Green Hobbit

This fly is called the Green Hobbit. Built on a size 12 430 multi purpose curved hook. The body was made by using the fuzz or bottom part of an olive guinea feather, opening the thread and placing the stripped feather fibers between the threads and closing the thread forming a dubbing loop. I took two turns around the shank and tied in a small white hackle feather. The dubbing loop was palmered forward and the the white feather was palmered forward over the olive dubbing loop. I took about ten green tinted fibers from a mallard duck feather and tied them onto to each side of the shank. Then dubbed more fibers using the olive "fuzz" and wrapped four more turns around forward. The thread was tied off with 4 or 5 whip finish knots. I used two gold halographic eyes and finished the head off using Loon's UV thin finish.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
