Red snapper. Caught February in warm shallow harbour estuary - usually a deep water species, so to catch one wading the sand banks is quite a surprise!

I believe it is a related species to the US "Porgy" - down here in the southern Pacific they are generally known as "snapper" or "red snapper". Whatever the name - hard fighting fish and good eating too!
