Thread: White
Tail: Orange hackle fibers
Butt: Peacock herl, light blue silk, peacock herl (rear 1/3 of hook)
Body: Flat gold tinsel
Rib: Silver oval tinsel (over body only)
Throat: Orange hackle fibers
Wing: Red hackle flanked by badger hackle
Eyes: Jungle cock
Head: Black

Notes: This is an early Maine streamer designed by Herb Welch. The streamer was named for the Kennabago Stream, one of the famous waters located in the Rangeley region of Maine. Herb is well known in streamer circles and he developed many streamers including the infamous Black Ghost.

Rob says "I love this fly in the spring when the brookies become active. The red in the wing and the flash from the tinsel body are weaknesses for both Salmon and Brookies. A great black nosed dace pattern that works well where big trout feed.

Mr. Welch's streamers had wings that were longer than conventional ties. I personally like my wings a little shorter to eliminate short strikes. The Kennebago is
a fun fly to tie as well as to fish."
