Tied by: Bob Petti
Originated by: Lew Oatman
Source: Streamer Fly Tying and Fishing Pg. 300
Hook: Mustad 3665A
Thread: White
Body: Pale cream floss wound with a slight taper
Ribbing: Medium narrow flat gold tinsel
Throat: A small bunch of rich orange hackle fibers the length of the hook gap
Wing: 2 olive green hackles flanked by golden badger hackles. Extend slightly beyond the hook bend and they should be slender
Eye: Jungle cock nail tied in short
Head: Black
Notes: This is the dressing as per Lew Oatman. This is one of Mr. Oatman's natural imitation patterns. The fly is designed to mimic a male Black Nose Dace during their spawning season. The Dace are plentiful in many rivers and so this makes an excellent choice of streamer. The fly is tied on a 4xl-6xl hook and is kept fairly short. Take note of the taper in the body, this is one of Mr. Oatman's signature traits in the natural imitations he created.

Long story longer
The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
