Fly fishing driving range

I have heard so many fly fishers who say "I do not fish stocked ponds... I only fish wild fish or those rivers etc." and they have so many reasons. Well, none of the reasons convince me and they do not have a single reason why they should fish for stocked fish.

Speak to every golfer and he will tell you that you need to spend time on the driving range. Why not do that when fly fishing as well?

Stocking ponds or small put and take fisheries are the golf driving ranges of fly fishing. You learn the limits of your tackle, how hard you can fight on thin tippet, test new patterns, how to play bigger fish on lighter rod and tippet, how to be more effective in landing the fish.
Do not be a fish snob!. Go and fish a stocking pond and see how much you can learn if you open your mind. Some fish in stocking ponds are so selective because they have seen ever pattern thrown at them, so there's another challenge for you.

Plus you might be able to bring a newcomer to the sport and teach a trick or two.

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
