It's no secret that the Global FlyFisher web site has had its share of technical issues. Chinese carpet bombers, server and disk problems, database overload and whatnot.
The site has grown from a small spare time home page to a large scale, high traffic web site. Still spare time, mind you, but just a bit more of it!
I have spent a considerable amount of time and other resources (read: money) on getting the site to run smoothly and with no glitches with fast load times, good structure and all-browser friendly looks. And of course the best possible content.
And it seems to work. During the past year you have seen tonnes on new articles, hundreds of videos, user's pictures and much more. The home made system (CMS - Content Management System) that drives the site allows me to queue articles as well as videos, and have them published automatically at any time in the future. Depending on the season and available material I try to publish a new piece every 3-5 days and have new videos almost every day or at least every second day depending on what gets published on the video services.
I have been on vacation for a couple of weeks, and even though I've had web access through my cell phone, I haven't really been able to do any maintenance on GFF, but just been able to watch it chugging along and doing its thing. Upon my return I've started adding new articles and behind the scenes there's always a ton of ideas in the works.
Since we're heading for our busiest time of the year, late autumn and winter, I'd better start adding even more. The traffic usually grows when the fishing stops, and I'd better make sure there's a lot of new, great articles for you when the cabin fever starts running.
As always you are invited to contribute and send in your suggestions or even articles, image galleries, patterns or whatever you would like to see on the site.
