GFF is still alive!

The site is back and in operation, but the downtime has led to some unfortunate errors, which I’m trying to fix as you read this

For a painfully long time in between August 18th 2023 and September 7th the Global FlyFisher was dead and gone.

My status monitor said

Latest downtime
It was recorded on 2023-08-18 09:25:03 and the downtime lasted for 475 hrs, 18 mins.

475 hours! That’s 20 days.

That’s a long time to be gone for a site that’s basically been running for 25 years.
GFF was caught in a ransomware attack on one of the service providers I use, and when they lost all data, I (and you) lost access to the domain.

Long story short: I regained the control, and the site could again be accessed.

Unfortunately the incident has given some hiccups, like some missing images and some odd redirects back and forth between pages.
I’m working on ironing these out, and within a reasonable time I expect things to be back in place.

My mail was also lost in that period, so please resend anything sent to me between August 18th and September 7th.

You can read a technical account of what happened here.

Glad to see you alive and kicking...

What can we do to help.

Just use the site...

As it is right now, things seem to be running and most problems have been solved, even though a few glitches still need some attention.
So for the readers and users, it's just a question of returning to the site and start using it.
And my request for content contributions is of course the same.

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
